DETAILS ITINERARY
DAY 1 : Transfer to Imlil
After a transfer to the little village of Imlil we begin our trekking tour. Heading along the Mizane Valley, we’ll first pass the village of Aremd and then onto the shrine of Sidi Chamarouch. We will continue east crossing the flood plains. Our route takes us along mule tracks and up into the high rocky cliffs above the valley. Crossing the river we’ll eventually come to the pastoral shrine of Sidi Chamarouch, which attracts tourists and pilgrims from all over the world. From here the trail will continue to climb steadily, snaking and zigzagging its way up to the snowline and the Toukbal Refuge (3206 m), our stop for the night.
DAY 2 : Ouanoukrim
Today we will leave the refuge to make the day-climb of Ouanoukrim at 4089 m. We’ll take some time to rest and relax during the afternoon. In the evening we’ll trek to our refuge where we’ll stay for the night.
DAY 3 : Jebel Toubkal
Early in the morning we’ll make our attempt on the summit of Jebel Toukbal, the highest peak in Northern Africa. Our route will take us up the south cirque, crossing the stream above the refuge. The hiking is relatively straightforward, but the scree and the altitude will make the going quite difficult in some parts. The views along the way will make the journey more than worthwhile though. When we’ll reach the summit we will see that the views across the surrounding landscape are quite breathtaking.
From up there unrestricted views are in every direction, from the Marrakech Plain to the High Atlas in the north and, Anti-Atlas and the Saharato the south. We will retrace our steps when we return down the mountain and spend the night in the refuge again.
DAY 4 : Today we head back towards Imlil
Upon arrival to Imlil we will drive back to Marrakech.Itinerary notesOn some occasions local weather conditions may require the trekking route to be altered to ensure your safety. If this itinerary does not match your thoughts, please contact us, all itineraries can be changed according to our guests preferences.
