At 4167 metres above sea level (ASL), Jebel Toubkal is the highest peak in North Africa. Getting to the summit is a challenging climb, but requires no mountaineering experience to get there.The 4 day Jebel Toubkal trekking tour will start in the city of Marrakech.
Itinerary notes• If your arrival to Marrakech is in the morning, you will be able to spend the first few hours in Marrakech & we’ll transfer you to Imlil in the afternoon.• Upon returning back to Imlil on day 3 of this program, it is possible to spend the night in a local gite. Instead of going back to Marrakech (from 20 EUR p.p.p.n.)• On some occasions local weather conditions may require the trekking route to be altered to ensure safety.• If this itinerary doesn’t match what you had in mind, please contact us and we’ll be pleased to change it according to your wishes
DETAILS ITINERARY
DAY1 : Marrakech / Imlil
Upon arrival to Marrakech, we will transfer you to the little village of Imlil. Here we will be able to explore the area and spend the night in a local gite.
DAY2 : Imlil / Toubkal Refuge
Today we begin our trek by heading to the Mizane Valley. We first pass Armed village and then onto the shrine of Sidi Chamarouch, we ‘ll hike east crossing the flood plains & the route will take us along mule tracks up to the high rocky cliffs above the valley.After crossing the river we eventually will come to the pastoral shrine of Sidi Chamarouch, which attracts tourists and pilgrims from all over the world. From here the trail continues to climb steadily, snaking and zigzagging its way up to the snowline and the Toukbal Refuge (3206m) where we will stop for the overnight.Approx walking duration is 4 to 5 hours.
DAY3 : Toubkal Summit / Imlil / Marrakech
Early in the morning we’ll make our way to the mountain to attempt the Jebel Toukbal summit. Our route will take us up the south cirque, crossing the stream above the refuge. The walking is relatively straightforward, but the scree and the altitude can present problems if not handled carefully. The views along the way though will be simpy stunning.
Upon reaching the Toubkal summit, we will see the amazing panorama possible only from the top of a mountain. From here there are unrestricted views in every direction, from Marrakesh Plain to the High Atlas in the north and to the Anti-Atlas and the Sahara in the south.
When we’ve rested, we can retrace our steps and trek down the mountain and head back towards Imlil before transferring back to Marrakech.Approx walking duration is 9 hours.
DAY4 : Departure from Marrakech
We will be spending the last few hours in Marrakech, before departure back home.
